UCPS days off for the rest of 2026-27
These are the days students in Union County Public Schools traditional-calendar schools do not attend, from the board-approved 2026-27 calendar. The district's own legend says students do not attend on holidays, annual leave days, or teacher workdays, so those are all listed here. This covers UCPS, which serves Indian Trail and Waxhaw. Many Matthews students attend Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools instead, depending on address, so see our CMS page too. Weather closings and added makeup days can change this list, so confirm on the district site.

Thanksgiving break
Wednesday, Nov 25 to Friday, Nov 27
Wednesday is an optional teacher workday and Thursday and Friday are holidays, so students are off all three days. School is on the calendar for Monday and Tuesday, Nov 23 and 24.
Winter break and January
Winter break
Monday, Dec 21 to Friday, Jan 1
Students are off from Dec 21 through Jan 1: an optional teacher workday on Dec 21, annual leave days Dec 22 and 23, holidays Dec 24, 25, and 28, annual leave days Dec 29 to 31, and the New Year's Day holiday on Jan 1. The next school day on the calendar is Monday, Jan 4.
Plan camps, childcare, and travel early. This is the longest break of the year.
Teacher workday and MLK weekend
Friday, Jan 15 and Monday, Jan 18
Jan 15 is a required teacher workday and Jan 18 is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, so students get a four-day weekend.
Late winter and spring

Optional teacher workday. No school for students, so it is a long weekend.

Teacher workday. No school for students.
Spring break
Friday, Mar 26 to Friday, Apr 2
Friday, Mar 26 is a holiday, followed by annual leave days Monday, Mar 29 through Friday, Apr 2. Students are off for the whole stretch.
